For A dream

Daring to dream and pursue

  • Trading cautious budgeting for mutual belief, an optimistic dancer and a practical singer cue the spotlight, abandon their safety net, and choose destiny over debt by chasing their shared dream to Atlanta.

Chasing your Dream

Driven by the conflicting ambitions of the intensely optimistic dancer Lettie, who relies on visualization and manifestation, and the practical singer De, who insists on a financial "safety net", the friends pool their savings to invest in a risky venture aimed at achieving fame in Atlanta sooner than expected. Their careful planning is shattered when Lettie impulsively empties their remaining cash stash and gives it to De's cousin without consulting her, resulting in the catastrophic loss of all four thousand dollars after the startup deal fails. Following a bitter argument exposing De's exhaustion with carrying Lettie's "air headed" irresponsibility, Lettie decides to move out; but left alone, De sheds her practical worries, finally "cues the mother fucking lights" to embrace the path of aspiration, and rushes out to reunite with Lettie, confirming that "the light came on" for her, and they will pursue their destiny together.

Research

De’s room is a practical, stripped down to bare minimum, the epitome of minimalist and almost too barren space. De’s realistic and pragmatic heavily breathes through her living space.

Lettie is aspirational, optimistic, full of energy and spirit which she believes will get her through the hard times, but also the key to the girls’ goal- landing in Atlanta. Lettie’s room is colorful, propped out, ritualistic to her routines. Care and decor is put into her room even though the girls face financial difficulties.
